Montserrat was declared a Natural Park in 1987 with the aim of protecting this massif, unique in the world for its size and its spectacular shapes. The Sant Joan funicular railway is a spectacular way of sinking in the natural park, to enjoy later the finest views of the mountain. On the other hand, the Santa Cova funicular railway links the monastery with the Holy Grotto, there visitors can admire the Monumental Rosary, featuring works by Catalan Art-Nouveau artists such as Gaudi, Puig i Cadafalch, and Llimona.
How to get there?
By bus:
A Juli� company coach departs every day from Barcelona at 9 am from Pla�a dels Pa�sos Catalans, next to Sants Railway Station in Barcelona.
By train FCG railways, from Pla�a Espanya in Barcelona to the rack railway and cable car stations n Monistrol de Montserrat. Free car park is available in both stations.
